Trip to Macau
The "old" Wynn in Macau |
Recently I went to Macau for gambling. The flight from Bangkok usually takes around 2 hours and costs you about 2000 baht. So while going there is really cheap, you have to choose wisely on which hotel you’re going to stay at. During the weekends Chinese people come over from Hongkong (Macau is about 30 minutes by boat from there) to spend their weekends going to the Casinos then. Some places like the ultra-modern Wynn Palace (same owner from the famous Wynn in Las Vegas) cost around 40.000 baht for a normal room then. During the week however, prices are relatively low and you can take your time to see the beautiful city of Macau. ´The streets are really clean, there is rarely any traffic and when you drive over a long bridge, you can see the old city of Macau where famous hotels like the MGM and another Wynn Casino are located. In every hotel there are huge Casinos which are running (and usually also quite crowded) for 24h every day of the week. No wonder that the annual revenue of Macau is 5 times the revenue of Las Vegas. This number may put the gambling part of Macau in perspective. So all the hotels are very modern and the designs and ideas are crazy. Every hotel tries to stand out from one another which makes the scenery and skyline look absolutely special. If you want to get away from the trouble and chaos, the outskirts of the city also offer forests and parks. I really recommend checking out the city - if you don’t like it, you can still go to Hongkong and spend your time there. And if you’re into gambling, then you mustn’t miss the beautiful city of Macau anyway.
Have a great start into the week!
Marcel
